How to prepare for a tattoo session.

Updated: Oct 23, 2023

Welcome to Princelet Tattoo! Whether it's your first time getting inked or you're returning for another session, preparation is key for a smooth tattooing experience. Here's a step-by-step guide to ensure you're ready for your appointment.

Research & Inspiration:

  • If it's your first tattoo, spend ample time researching designs, placements, and styles that resonate with you.

  • Save images or create a mood board as reference for your artist.

Consultation:

  • Schedule a consultation at Princelet Tattoo prior to your actual tattooing session. This allows you to discuss your design, get feedback, determine placement, and get a price quote.

Mind Your Health:

  • Get a good night's sleep before your appointment.

  • Eat a balanced meal 1-2 hours before the session. This helps regulate blood sugar levels and minimizes chances of feeling faint.

  • Avoid alcohol or drugs 24 hours before the session. They can thin the blood and affect the tattooing process.

Skin Care:

  • Keep the area you're getting tattooed clean and moisturized in the days leading up to your appointment.

  • Do not tan or sunburn the area prior to getting tattooed.

Dress Appropriately:

  • Wear comfortable clothing.

  • Make sure the area being tattooed is easily accessible. For instance, if getting a thigh tattoo, consider wearing shorts.

What to Bring:

  • Your photo ID (to verify age and identity).

  • A water bottle and some light snacks. Depending on the tattoo's size, the session can last a while.

  • Cash or a means of payment as per Princelet Tattoo’s payment policies.

Mentally Prepare:

  • It's normal to feel anxious, especially if it's your first time. Take deep breaths and remind yourself of the reason you want the tattoo.

  • Consider bringing headphones to listen to music or a podcast to help you relax.

Follow Studio Guidelines:

  • Arrive on time for your appointment.

  • Ensure you've read and understand all consent forms and studio policies.

  • Be respectful to your artist and the studio staff. Listen to their instructions and ask questions if unsure about any aspect of the process.

Aftercare:

  • At the end of your session, your artist will provide you with aftercare instructions. Make sure to follow them religiously to ensure the longevity and vibrancy of your tattoo.

  • Purchase any recommended aftercare products in advance or right after your session.

Remember:

  • Every individual has a different pain threshold. Some areas might be more sensitive than others. Trust your artist, communicate with them, and take breaks if needed.

By following these steps, you'll be well-prepared for your tattoo session at Princelet Tattoo. Here's to a memorable experience and a tattoo you'll cherish forever!
